About the event
Joining the South Side Builders Association this month is J. Byron Brazier
J. Byron Brazier is a cultural architect and institutional development strategist focused on advancing long-term economic sustainability in historically under-capitalized Black communities.
Brazier is the lead developer of Woodlawn Central on Chicago's South Side, a catalytic mixed-use initiative developed with community institutions as a model for regenerative urban development.
With a background in art and design, Brazier approaches development as a systems discipline - aligning capital, governance, education, and infrastructure to support community ownership and durable market growth.
His work integrates geospatial information science and data-driven analysis to understand how economic, social, and physical conditions shape neighborhoods, informing development strategies grounded in real-world dynamics.
