Cornerstone Investment Group began its operations in 1992 in a storefront located in Chicago’s North Side Rogers Park neighborhood. Since that time Mr. Johnson has led the development and repositioning of 1,500 housing units. Those developments range in scope from the construction of single-family homes to large scale developments, both for-sale and large multi-family rental properties. One of Johnson’s fortes is re-positioning troubled properties that then become assets to the communities where they are located. While others have overlooked the value in these properties and projects Mr. Johnson has been able to see and assess the opportunities.

Our development expertise includes projects financed through Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Tax Exempt Bonds, Tax Increment Funding Proceeds, Federal Home Dollars, Community Development Block Grants, various US Department of Housing and Urban Development Multi-Family programs and other sources of public subsidy, in addition to conventional debt and equity.
